The varicap diode, whose electrical symbol adopted in the composition of the theoretical circuits, is published in figure 1, assumes the task to replace the old and traditional variable capacitor, mounted in the greater part of the apparatuses receivers. But not alone, obviously, but in connection with common potentiometer, like what it regulated the volume of the audio through the loudspeaker, or an other that controls the tonality of the sounds. In practical, therefore, while with the variable capacitor the manual commando of tuning identifies itself with the grip handle on the hinge of such component, with the varicap diode the element for the control of the tuning of the receiver radio, is represented from the hinge of a potentiometer. Saying this, servants hour to describe the varicap diode, its behavior in the real circuits, the main characteristics electrical workers of the not professional and easy findable models on the market of the components and, finally, a applicative example of the semiconductor in the plan more elementary than a receiver.
